Before using bank cards, you must complete the activation process for your Wells Fargo card. This post will discuss how to activate new and replacement Wells Fargo debit and credit cards.
Regardless of whether you received a new or replacement debit or credit card from Wells Fargo, you need to activate it before you can use it for purchases and bill payments.
Wells Fargo is the fourth-largest bank in the United States, and although the company is headquartered in San Francisco, it has offices throughout the country.
But to activate the card, you do not need to go to the office.
Activating your Wells Fargo card is quick and easy, and the bank allows you to start using your card within minutes of receiving it. As a result, you can altogether avoid the hassle of visiting a bank office.
There are several ways to activate your Wells Fargo card. We’ll take a quick look at each of them.
Credit Card Activation
Log into the Wells Fargo Online Portal. If you don’t already have a Wells Fargo online account, don’t worry. You can create an account on their online portal in minutes.
All you have to do to create an account is to enter your account number and social security number on the portal.
After you enter these details, you will need to provide your username and password, after which you can access your online bank account.
To activate your card online, log in to the portal and verify your identity by entering the requested personal information, including your address and social security number.
You will also need to enter your card number, card expiration date, and cardholder’s name.
Your card will be activated.
It takes no more than five minutes to activate your Wells Fargo card online.
It is usually easier and faster to activate a card by phone. All you need to do is call Wells Fargo at 1-877-294-6933, enter your card number, and any other identifying information requested, such as a Social Security number.
This is the fastest way to activate your Wells Fargo card and takes less than two minutes.
Remember to activate the card; you must dial your registered phone number. Otherwise, the activation will not work.
Wells Fargo App
Download Wells Fargo Mobile on your Android or iOS device and log into your account using the same username and password as your online account.
Once logged in, activating your Wells Fargo card is as easy as finding the card you want in your account list and clicking on the activation option.
Debit Card Activation
If you received a Wells Fargo debit card, you would need to activate it the same way you start your credit card.
While you can activate your Wells Fargo Debit Card in all three of the ways mentioned above, there are a few more methods you can use as an alternative.
From the ATM
Go to a Wells Fargo ATM and insert the received debit card into the slot. Then, enter the PIN that you will receive a few days separately after receiving the card.
Simply inserting a card into the slot will activate your card. Please note that activation can only be done at a Wells Fargo ATM.
At a Branch
You can also go to any Wells Fargo office and ask your banker to activate your Wells Fargo card. They will do it for you for free, and it only takes a few minutes.
When Activating A Wells Fargo Card to Keep in Mind These Points
- If you activate a replacement card, the PIN is the same as your old card’s PIN. You can start a replacement card by calling on the number on the card’s sticker. You can also activate a replacement card at a Wells Fargo ATM.
- The PIN of a new card will be mailed to you separately from the card. If you want to change the PIN to a number that’s easier for you to remember, you can call 1-800-869-3557 and follow the prompts and change it.
- Customer support representatives cannot change or remind you of your PIN.
- If a week has passed and you do not receive a PIN for your card, you can call customer service and request a new PIN. It will arrive in your mail in 7 business days.
Using the above-mentioned methods, activating your Wells Fargo card will be a simple task, and you can now pay.
Wells Fargo recommends signing the back of the card as soon as you receive it. The company also suggests that all temporary debit cards be destroyed when receiving a permanent debit card.
Following these guidelines will ensure that your identity and your bank account remain safe.
