Tarin urges PSMA to begin sugarcane production as soon as possible

Shaukat Tarin, the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance and Revenue, has asked the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PSMA) to begin sugarcane production as soon as possible to keep demand and supply balanced.

He revealed this at a meeting with a PSMA delegation led by Chairman Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf at the Finance Division.

The delegation emphasised that the sugar industry was facing numerous issues and requested assistance from the government in tackling them. It also asked the government for help in giving relief and fostering a favourable environment for the sugar business.

Advisor Tarin stated that the government is aware of the sugar business’s issues and will play its proper role in this regard.

He also assured the delegation that regular coordination and cooperation between both parties would address their valid concerns. He then highlighted that delivering vital things to the common person at a fair price is the current government’s priority and that all efforts are being made to achieve this goal.

Members of the PSMA expressed their faith in Shaukat Tarin’s leadership and pledged their full support to secure the availability of sugar at a reasonable price.
